Putnam Valley Lakehouse

In the scenic, woodsy town of Putnam Valley, NY, our clients built a new home on the footprint of a former house on a lake. We worked with Hudson Design architects to bring charm and natural details to this multi-generational home. The homeowners are a blended family with lots of grandchildren, so we needed to ensure that an organic luxury style could withstand typical family life.

To set the tone for the house, we designed a custom, solid walnut kitchen with walls and counters clad in natural stone and geometric tile in a similar color and finish. A centrally located, field stone fireplace grounds the home while providing warmth. A wall of glass doors that open up onto the deck creates a scenic view of the lake. To link these features, we focused on utilizing all natural materials with a special emphasis on the handmade. Organic luxury features include hand-blocked wallpapers, hand-crafted furniture, and hand-pressed, bathroom tiles.
